Make your home to smell like Christmas

Make your home to smell like Christmas

The final touch to making the holidays extra special is to make your home smell like Christmas. Today we show you the quick, easy and inexpensive way. Are you ready to learn the secret to making your home smell like Christmas? It’s the final touch that will take your celebrations next level.

1. Simmer festive spices

Here are the ingredients that we recommend :
  • 3-5 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 Sliced Orange
  • 1-2 Sprigs Rosemary
  • 1 Tablespoon Cloves
  • 1 Cup Fresh Cranberries
  • 2 Teaspoons Nutmeg

Simply pop all your favourite festive scents in a pan of simmering water and let the smell fill your home.

2. Soak pinecones in oil

The first way you can make your own scented pine cones is simply by dropping the essential oils of your choosing right on them. Easy peasy!

First, gather your materials:

  • Pine cones
  • Essential oils of choice

put the pine cones in the bowl and sprinkle 10-15 drops of the essential oils all over them. Easy peasy right ?

3. Old fashioned Christmas garland

I admire fresh, natural, and simple Christmas decorations like a real pine bough wreath, a basket of pine cones, or a bright poinsettia. The boys and I recently had fun at home learning how to string an Old Fashioned Holiday Garland. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

What you need to start :

  • Oranges
  • Apples
  • Twine
  • Knife
  • Rolling Pin
  • Gingerbread man -if possible
  • 1 drinking straw
  • 1 cup ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp ground cloves
  • ¼ cup applesauce
  • glue

Thinly slice the apples and oranges. Place the fruit slices onto a cooling rack and set the rack into a warm oven (180 degrees F.). Crack the oven door so the moisture from the fruits can escape. Leave the fruit slices in the oven until they have dried completely. While the fruit is drying, prepare the Cinnamon Clay by mixing the cinnamon, cloves, applesauce and glue together with a metal spoon or your hands. Cover the dough and allow it to rest for one hour before use.  Roll out the clay. (If the clay is too stiff, an extra tablespoon of applesauce will make it more pliable. If the dough is too wet, add cinnamon to absorb some of the moisture.) Invite your child to cut out the gingerbread men with the cookie cutter. Use a straw to punch holes on both hands of every gingerbread man. Allow the gingerbread men to rest on a baking sheet sprinkled with cinnamon. When the sheet is full, place it in the oven with the fruit slices.

Well, it turns out that creating these comforting Christmas scents is very easy!  Trust us, these fabulous scents will have you feeling warm and cozy all season long. So grab a good book and a Christmas cookie or two (or three!) and snuggle in.
